Cali-Parisian Nook

Cuisine à Rayures Jaunes literally means yellow striped kitchen in French. For me, it’s a fun way to bring in a lighter colorway as the days and light get shorter. The bright stripes mimic yellow rays of sunshine to usher in a warm cheery vibe as we move into the dark, cold, winter months in California. This kitchen nook was painted in Farrow & Ball’s Daydream Yellow and Beh'r’s Ultra White. It was designed, styled zhuz’d by me as a way to cope with the 2024 election day jitters. The inspiration came from my travels whilst living and luxuriating in Paris and the french countryside. While visiting 27 villages and its charming cafes in the north and south France, I was inspired to bring in the dreamy, dappled, darling ray of sunshine into my own cozy, private kitchen nook. I’ve always day dreamed (fitting and a not-so-coincidental name of the Day Dream Yellow paint) of a having my own little Cali-Parisian Cafe inspired nook where I can stare into my secret garden, marvel at the roses climbing whimsically over the oversized birdcage arched pergola, while listening to the cacophony of native birds mixed with the calming sounds of my gargoyle water cistern and La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf on loop. I spent a lot of time sipping on my seasonal spritzer or tea, as I fantasize about how the world can coexist in love and light one day. Hope this brings some sunshine into your daydreams. Bisous et Merci.
